Cost guide

How much does a website cost in Tamil Nadu in 2026?

By Karthikeyan Govindan. Published and last checked .

The short answer

A small business website in Tamil Nadu costs about ₹3,000 to ₹18,000 to build, according to the prices firms published in November 2026, plus about ₹1,000 a year for the domain. Online stores start around ₹8,000 and go well past ₹18,000. What matters more than the price is what you actually get, and who ends up owning it.

Real published prices

Most web companies don't publish prices. In our study of 49 local sites, only 18 mentioned one. These are the figures we could read from real company pages on 4 November 2026, with the company names left out.

WhoBasic siteBigger siteOnline store
A Tamil Nadu-wide firmFrom ₹2,999 or ₹4,999 (its page shows both)QuotedFrom ₹7,999 to ₹9,999; Shopify from ₹14,999

That's only a sample of published prices, and it isn't a survey. Most of the market doesn't publish at all, so a quote you receive may be quite different.

What changes the price

  • Number of pages. This is the most common pricing unit, though not the most important one.
  • Who writes the words. If you give the text, it's cheaper. Good text is also what gets you found, so don't treat it as an afterthought.
  • Template or custom. A template is cheaper and quicker. Custom work costs more, and it's faster to load if done well.
  • Selling online. Payments, shipping rules and product pages add real work.
  • Languages. Some firms charge extra for Tamil. Ours is included.
  • What's being promised. A site, or a site plus SEO? Check that you're comparing the same thing.

What you get at each price

Around ₹3,000 to ₹5,000

Usually a template with your name and photos, often on the seller's own hosting. This can be fine if you just need a page to share. Ask what happens if that seller disappears.

Around ₹8,000 to ₹13,000

A proper small business site, with several pages, a mobile layout, a WhatsApp button, a map and basic SEO. This is enough for most shops, clinics and small firms.

Around ₹18,000 and up

More pages, a real store, or custom features. Worth it when the site itself takes orders or bookings.

When the cheapest option is right

If you're just starting out and your customers already know you, you may not need a paid website yet. A free Google Business Profile may be enough for now. We'd rather tell you that than sell you something you don't need.

Five questions to ask before paying anyone

  1. Whose name will the domain be registered in, and will I have the login?
  2. Where is it hosted, and will I have that login too?
  3. What will I pay every year after the first year?
  4. How many rounds of changes are included?
  5. How much advance do you need, and when's the rest due?

Common questions

How much does a small business website cost in Tamil Nadu?

Published prices we checked in November 2026 run from about ₹3,000 to ₹18,000 for small sites of 4 to 10 pages. Lakecipher's start at ₹8,000 for up to 5 pages and ₹13,000 for up to 10 pages.

What is the yearly cost of a website?

At least the domain renewal, about ₹1,000 a year for a .com. Hosting can be free for a simple static site, or a few thousand rupees a year for WordPress. Some vendors also charge a yearly maintenance fee, so ask before you start.

Is a ₹3,000 website any good?

It can be fine for a very small need, if you understand what you're getting. Usually it's a template on the seller's hosting. Ask who owns the domain and hosting, and what happens if you stop paying them.

Do I need to pay every month for a website?

No. A simple website needs a yearly domain fee and possibly hosting, not a monthly payment. Monthly charges only make sense for ongoing work such as SEO, content or a store platform like Shopify.
